Travel light
All you need for travel is a camera and a good, versatile lens. A travel tripod can be useful but keep your backpack light and portable for long walks!
Zooms are your friend
A zoom lens with a wide range of focal lengths lets you quickly change your composition. One with a large aperture will help when the lights go down.
Don’t forget people
Find an ‘anchor’ to your composition. A human element can often add a pop of colour for the viewer to focus on.
Look around you
Remember to look up, down and behind. The best compositions aren’t always straight in front of you.
Time your light
Dawn and dusk often offer the best and most dramatic lighting. Be prepared to get up early!
Add motion
Objects and people in motion can add another dimension of energy to travel images.
